At a time when many craft villages and traditions of Vietnam are facing great challenges, we are thrilled to announce that our proposal to revitalize the 500-year-old tradition of woodblock printing in Dong Ho village, has been awarded a 25,000 EUR grant from Prince Claus Fund.
A non-profit in the Netherlands, Prince Claus Fund believes that culture is a basic need. They enable artists and cultural practitioners to work freely & without restrictions creating culture that inspires positive social change, leading to a future that is equitable, inclusive, peaceful, and environmentally sustainable. As part of this new project, we will work with artists and artisans to develop INGO - a hands-on, do-it-yourself kit for teachers and parents to educate children in Vietnam about Dong Ho's woodblock printmaking art. The project also aims to raise public awareness about the art through events and school visits. We would like to express our gratitude to Prince Claus Fund for supporting this undertaking. Stay tuned as we provide more updates on the project's Facebook page and website.
