The library, built in the 60s, is a gem of modernist architecture. But did you know that it has a modern and spacious reading area for children? With dedicated support from the library management to enhance children's education, INGO will be able to offer a series of hands-on cultural and creative activities related to Dong Ho woodblock prints.

For details on schedule and how to participate, please reach out to the library or INGO via their Facebook page. Registration is required due to limited seating and materials per session.

The programme is free, thanks to support from Prince Claus Fund. INGO team looks forward to seeing you at the library on weekend.
<![CDATA[Meaningful connections from FabLab Asia Network Conference]]>Wed, 30 May 2018 17:00:00 GMThttp://meyecreative.com/journal/meaningful-connections-from-fablab-asia-network-conference
Following five months of preparation, the 4th FabLab Asia Network Conference (FAN4) in Ho Chi Minh City finally took place on May 2-5th 2018. This is the result of a close collaboration between FabLab Saigon, The BIM Factory, Meye Creative and support from IPP Program, and Saigon Innovation Hub. This year, the annual gathering of FabLab Asia Network attracted 150 participants from 10 countries, and 23 Asian FabLabs all the way to Jordan.

As a creative consulting partner of the conference, Meye Creative took great pride that the theme “Co-create a better world” and conference programme which we curated were very well received by local and international participants alike. It was our aim and our joy to foster co-creation among participants on local projects aligned with sustainable development goals by engaging project partners such as Precious Plastics Saigon, Cua hang 3T, and EVG for their plastic recycling, natured-based solutions to plastic straws and pedal-powered water filtering system respectively.

We also made an effort to showcase Vietnamese culture through traditional music and martial arts (Vovinam) performances, and needless to say, food.

As the conference came to an end, our heart is full of gratitude to all participants and sponsors, guest speakers, our team members, volunteers and others who lent us support in various ways.

Last but not least, we thank FabLab Saigon for the opportunity to contribute to this great conference, and to promote knowledge and culture exchange between Vietnam and other countries.

We are pleased to share with you a video recap of FAN4.

<![CDATA[Bringing Fablab Asia Network Conference to Vietnam, with FabLab Saigon]]>Sun, 31 Dec 2017 17:00:00 GMThttp://meyecreative.com/journal/partnership-with-fablab-saigon-to-bring-fablab-asia-network-conference-to-vietnamOn the first day of every year, we hope we will always have something exciting to announce to the community. This year, it's about bringing the 4th Fablab Asia Network Conference to Vietnam for the first time.
Fablab Asia Network (FAN) Conference is the annual gathering of Asian FabLabs, organized in a different location each year. For the 2018 edition, FabLab Saigon has successfully secured the votes to host the conference in Ho Chi Minh City in May 2018. Meye Creative is honoured to be the creative consulting partner for the conference, curating a programme focusing on sustainable development goals and co-creation. We expect to welcome 100+ participants from all over Asia to explore the maker and FabLabs ecosystem in Vietnam, and to experience our local culture.

The conference theme is “Co-create a better world”. We have selected this theme to emphasize a refreshing conference experience whereby international participants are given opportunities, by design, to co-create solutions with local makers and organizations that seek to make an impact. To do so, the organizer will enable international and local participants to team up and work together, over a period of 3 days. Teams will brainstorm and prototype hands-on solutions that address a challenge in the local context or improve upon an existing solution. A pop-up fablab will be set up to serve this purpose.

The conference website will be live at https://fan4.fablabs.vn. Please check back in about a month.
<![CDATA[We have been awarded a grant from Prince Claus Fund]]>Mon, 04 Jan 2016 08:00:00 GMThttp://meyecreative.com/journal/we-have-been-awarded-a-grant-from-prince-claus-fundAt a time when many craft villages and traditions of Vietnam are facing great challenges, we are thrilled to announce that our proposal to revitalize the 500-year-old tradition of woodblock printing in Dong Ho village, has been awarded a 25,000 EUR grant from Prince Claus Fund.

A non-profit in the Netherlands, Prince Claus Fund believes that culture is a basic need. They enable artists and cultural practitioners to work freely & without restrictions creating culture that inspires positive social change, leading to a future that is equitable, inclusive, peaceful, and environmentally sustainable.

As part of this new project, we will work with artists and artisans to develop INGO - a hands-on, do-it-yourself kit for teachers and parents to educate children in Vietnam about Dong Ho's woodblock printmaking art. The project also aims to raise public awareness about the art through events and school visits.

We would like to express our gratitude to Prince Claus Fund for supporting this undertaking.

Stay tuned as we provide more updates on the project's Facebook page and website.]]>
